Steven J. Schiltz, MBA
Steven J. Schiltz Steve Schiltz joined Shamrock Structures as Chief Executive Officer in January of 2004. Prior to joining Shamrock Structures, Mr. Schiltz had been Director of Business Development for MediChem Life Sciences, Inc., a chemistry-based drug discovery company. He joined MediChem in 1993 and built and directed the business development team there through the company’s highest growth period during which revenues were increased by a growth rate > 45% year over year for a 5 year period. He was instrumental in establishing and growing many of the key drug discovery chemistry and structural biology collaborations with MediChem's pharmaceutical and biotechnology clients. He received a Bachelor in Business Administration degree from the University of St. Francis and an MBA degree from Lewis University.

Richard L. Walter, Ph.D.
Richard L. Walter, Ph.D., joined Shamrock Structures as Chief Scientific Officer in July 2007. Dr. Walter is responsible for overseeing all scientific activities in structural biology R&D, enabling Shamrock to provide complete gene-to-structure services to its pharmaceutical company clients. He directs the further development of the Company’s scientific vision, laboratory operations and scientific management. He is formally trained as a protein crystallographer and protein biochemist and has over ten years industrial experience working in pharmaceutical and consumer products research. Prior to joining Shamrock in 2007, he was Associate Research Fellow at Pfizer’s Ann Arbor, Michigan Laboratories, where he had responsibility for group management and implementation of gene-to-structure capability. Prior to Pfizer, he was at The Procter & Gamble Company for nine years, where he led structural biology and protein crystallography teams in a variety of gene-to-structure projects. Dr. Walter received his Ph.D. in Biochemistry, focused in X-ray crystallography, at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York under the mentorship of Stephen E. Ealick, Ph.D. After completing his Ph.D., he was a Senior Postdoctoral Fellow at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana, where he helped design, build and establish new crystallography and biochemistry laboratories. He received his B.A. in Biology/Biochemistry at the College of Wooster in Wooster, Ohio. He has published and presented extensively in the fields of structural biology and protein crystallography.

Michael T. Flavin, Ph.D.
Michael T. Flavin, Ph.D. Dr. Michael Flavin is a Managing Director of Flavin Ventures, LLC – the group that founded and launched Shamrock Structures. He is presently the Chief Executive Officer of Advanced Life Sciences, Inc. He was the founder, CEO, and Chairman of MediChem Life Sciences, Inc. (NASDAQ:MCLS). Dr. Flavin took MediChem from start-up in 1987 through many stages of development including the successful completion of MediChem's $35M private placement in 1999, the acquisition and integration of ThermoGen and Emerald Biostructures and MediChem's October, 2000 $54M IPO. He oversaw formation of the AXAS subsidiary and contract with the U.S. Department of Energy and management of the COMCAT beam line at the Advanced Photon Source at Argonne National Laboratory. MediChem was acquired in 2002 by deCODE genetics (NASDAQ:DCGN) for $83M in stock. Dr. Flavin received a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from the University of Notre Dame, a Ph.D. in Medicinal Chemistry from the University of Illinois at Chicago, and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Harvard University. Prior to founding MediChem, Dr. Flavin worked as a Senior Research Associate for Baxter International.

John L. Flavin, MBA
John L. Flavin John Flavin is a Managing Director of Flavin Ventures, LLC – the group that founded and launched Shamrock Structures. He is presently the President of Advanced Life Sciences, Inc. He was formerly the Chief Operating Officer and a director of MediChem Life Sciences, Inc., a chemistry-based drug discovery company. At MediChem, Mr. Flavin was responsible for developing and managing the business and scientific operations and was the Chief Executive Officer of its protein engineering and proteomics subsidiaries, Emerald BioStructures, ThermoGen and AXAS. In addition, he helped lead each of MediChem's capital financings. Mr. Flavin led the early development of IT and financial reporting functions and the establishment of MediChem's project management systems. Mr. Flavin holds a BS in Business Administration from Marquette University and an MBA from Lewis University.
